A prototype design of a wheelchair is described to support the mobility of individuals with different mobility abilities. The design of a mobile structure is presented, which attaches to the passenger seat of a sedan, teleoperated by the user through neural instructions. The prototype has the capability to sequentially unfold from its initial position, the passenger seat, to its final position, outside the vehicle. This is achieved through linear movements, using bearings and linear guides in two dimensions, and a rotational movement. Once the platform is outside the vehicle, the wheelchair wheels unfold, and the chair autonomously detaches from the platform that is connected to the vehicle. The control of the platform and the chair is achieved through an innovative assistive system, operated by the user via electroencephalographic signals obtained from an Emotiv neural headband with 5 or 14 sensors. This facilitates the user's mobility without the need for third-party assistance.
